National Collaborative Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS)

The National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy is a major initiative under the Government’s Backing Australia’s Ability - Building our Future through Science and Innovation. It aims to provide researchers with access to the infrastructure and networks necessary to undertake world-class research.

The Characterisation Capability (5.3) covers Advanced Microscopy and Microanalysis, X-Ray Techniques (including Synchrotron radiation) and Neutron Scattering.

Among the options for neutrons include improvements to the OPAL reactor and its instrumentation and a National Deuteration Facility for deuterated biomolecules, surfactants and so on. The committee urges you to support these neutron activities.
