ANBUG Newsletter - 2005/2
16th November 2005
The following items, discussed at the last meeting (10/10/05) of
the ANBUG committee, may be of general interest to the Australian
neutron user community.
Bragg Institute activities: The new Bragg building
is nearly complete. The first 3 instruments to be operational at
OPAL (mid-2006) will be the High Intensity Powder Diffractometer,
the quasi-Laue single crystal diffractometer, and the residual strain
diffractometer.
Next wave of neutron beam instruments: There will
be a 2-day meeting in the Blue Mountains on the weekend immediately
following ICNS, to discuss the next wave of instruments at OPAL.
30-35 people (internationals and Australians) have been invited.
Of the ANBUG executive, SC, CL, CB, BK and possibly IG will be there
as representatives of ANBUG and various IATs.
AINSE/ANBUG symposium and summer school: The next
one will be held in the second week of December 2006, after it was
realised that the AIP congress will take place in Brisbane during
the first week of that month (3-8 December).
Reminder - ANBUG 2005 AGM at ICNS2005: 7.30 pm
on Tuesday evening 29 November 2005 at the ICNS2005 Conference Venue
at Darling Harbour.
